Waldorf Astoria Orlando Vacation

written by Dana February 1, 2018

We certainly had a cold streak here in the New York metropolitan area, so this was the perfect time to head off to Florida for some fun in the sun. Many of us have daily stresses and when I go away, I want to know that relaxation along with fun times will be enjoyed.

The art-deco design and modern yet classic feel of the Waldorf Orlando is fashion forward yet timeless and has always drawn me in. The wonderful thing about the Waldorf Astoria Orlando is whether you’re going on a couples escape, a family vacation, planning a wedding or even a business trip — it’s appropriate for everything. The overall vibe of the hotel is relaxed, yet elegant. So I will call it “relaxed elegance.” The hotel is located in the Walt Disney World area, you actually drive under the Walt Disney arch to get to the property. It’s nice to know that this a place you can get dressed up at and enjoy a fabulous dinner, or you and the family can be in a fun casual outfit upon return from the Orlando attractions. The hotel is located in an enclave called Bonnet Creek and next to the Hilton.

Upon arriving at the hotel, you drive up a rather picturesque entrance and immediately greeted by the attentive staff. They warmly greeted us and set a positive vibe for the trip! Check in was a breeze and we were whisked up to our room. Many of the rooms have balconies so you are able to savor those gorgeous Florida sunrises and sunsets. Nature’s beauty at it’s best! The suite we had was fully appointed; dining area, bar and coffee area, gorgeous living room, outdoor balcony/patio, luxurious master bedroom, cozy robes, large shower and tub and beautiful vanity area. For even the most discerning fashionista, this room at the Waldorf Orlando was perfection!

My date is an avid golfer and he really enjoyed the golf course. It’s nice when your man can enjoy a golf day and you can enjoy a spa day. The Spa at the hotel, is so relaxing. I went for the Himalayan Salt Stone massage and I could feel the New York stresses melting off my body! Here is a spa brochure, so you can check out all the Waldorf has to offer. They are all about using local ingredients, which I appreciate — again tying into nature’s beauty.

As far as dining, where do I begin! One of our favorite meals of each day was the breakfast buffet at Oscars. There are fresh pressed juices, made to order omelettes, the best pastries, pancakes, waffles and more. The selection at breakfast was impressive and delicious. We also enjoyed poolside dining and cocktails at Aquamarine their poolside restaurant.  Whether you opt for a meal at your cabana or cocktails by the bar, my mojito, salad and burger were tops. For dinner, we took a stroll to the Hilton Bonnet Creek, which is literally next door! Waldorf Astoria Orlando guests have the convenient option to also enjoy all of the amenities of the Hilton as well (they have a fun lazy river for kids and slides). We had dinner at La Luce, a signature restaurant, inspired by famed Napa Valley chef and restaurateur Donna Scala. My fish was so good and my date’s Lamb Shank was tender and tasty. Dessert at La Luce is also top rate and we shared the Tiramisu!

The Waldorf Astoria Orlando also has various options for destination weddings on their property. From glamorous ball rooms to chic and pretty outdoor spots, it was nice to learn about their wedding experiences. Above all, the hotel really is the best of both. An elegant yet relaxed and welcoming place to not only have the Disney experiences but actually relax, reset and enjoy.

I highly recommend the Waldorf Astoria Orlando for your next vacation.  For now, I’ll just savor the memories!
